These are the words we live by. PFD was established in 2020, but if you’re looking for the day the passion was born, you’d have to head back to the 80s when Coach Jon Shepard was born. Those who are involved with PFD Strength Training embody these words not just when working with clients, but rather throughout their everyday lives. We aim to better the lives of those we work with, through their health and wellness, ensuring it all translates into their daily lives seamlessly as well as their mental strength and toughness. We are here to help clients of all walks of life and we cannot wait to work with you.
Jon F. Shepard - CSCS, CFSC
Jon Shepard is a Strength & Conditioning Coach and former professional Minor League Baseball player. As a former elite-level athlete who also overcame a severe head injury, Jon understands the perseverance, hard work, and commitment needed to achieve health, fitness, and performance goals.
During his senior year at Triton Regional High School, he was a two-sport All-State Athlete. He then went on to complete his Bachelors of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology and Economics through Wheaton College (Norton, MA), while playing baseball all 4 years and also spending time working with athletes in the Special Olympics. Jon then went on to become an All-American Baseball pitcher in 2010.
He had professional baseball invites to try for the Tampa Bay Rays, Baltimore Orioles, and New York Yankees. Through 5 years of professional baseball, Jon Played in the Can-Am League, the Frontier League, and the Atlantic League.
Jon is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), a Certified Functional Strength Coach (CFSC), and is certified in Speed, Agility, & Quickness through NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine). Being a Former athlete, Jon had always been interested in pursuing a career in the Strength and Conditioning field and learning more about human performance. He began his path working simultaneously as a Personal Trainer at a Sports Performance Training Facility and a Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Aide at McGovern Physical Therapy. During this time, he worked with athletes in the youth, high school, collegiate, professional and Olympic ranks.
Most recently, Jon was a head S&C coach for the past 5 years at a Strength gym while being the strength coach for the Rivier College baseball team all before starting his newest venture with PFD Strength Training based out of Assonet, MA.
Emily L. Shepard - Certified Speed & Agility Coach, Pre and Postnatal Exercise Coach and CPT & Certified Nutrition Coach (Pending)
Emily Shepard is studying for her Certified Personal Training and Certified Nutrition Coach certifications. Coach Emily is co-owner of PFD and Director of Operations. With a background in business and marketing, Emily has spent the early years of PFD behind the scenes. More recently Emily is interning as a coach and studying for her CPT and CNC certifications .
As a former volleyball player (high school) and collegiate athlete, playing basketball at Suffolk University (Boston, MA), and AAU basketball coach, Emily has always had a passion for sports, fitness and the industry as a whole. It wasn’t until more recently when PFD was officially born that she found her calling as a coach.
Currently, Emily offers basketball clinics, one on one sessions and shooting lessons.
Emily as been around the game of basketball, volleyball and baseball her entire life and the fitness industry for the last ten years. Making the jump to part-time coach has been a long time coming and a happy and welcomed addition to PFD Strength Training.
